Hi friends 👋🏼 it’s Emily here, doing a little intro for our newest followers! I’ve been playing with flowers since I was a teenager. And as a kid, I never really considered myself creative-I just loved to craft-I’d sit on my bedroom floor and “make stuff” until the wee hours of the night. I grew up watching my mom build her amazing fine art consulting business 🖼 but it wasn’t until college when I studied landscape architecture in Italy that I connected with art and creativity 🇮🇹 I was lucky to stumble upon a floral internship in high school, which sparked a connection to crafting and creating with flowers 💐 and it became a HUGE passion of mine, but I still considered it a hobby and that I should venture into the real job world 🌍 so I graduated from Brown with an urban studies degree and wanted to impact communities for the better with community gardens, urban design and advocacy. I ended up in San Francisco in a young women’s leadership development and violence prevention program and my heart ❤️ was filled with passion to serve and help those in need.
And after 6 years I had a yearning to get back into flowers. That little whisper got louder and louder so started the transition back into the flower world freelancing with @sillapere and getting inspired to create beauty for large events and honing my skills while meeting some of my dearest friends 👯‍♀️👯‍♀️ On a whim I started @soulflowersf 14 years ago and can hardly believe the twists and turns of the journey -like the antics of the wedding and event world (we’ve all got stories 😂) and the deep drive it takes to endure early mornings and long nights. I’m grateful to have learned the business side from my parent’s ongoing support and wisdom. And in that learning I found a way to give back to my entrepreneurial friends with coaching work. I’ve recently become a Certified Co-Active Professional coach because I see such an incredible need to help those on a similar path to turn their passion into a viable business. I feel lucky that I learned at a young age that anything is possible ✨✨✨

PERSPECTIVE | One of my favorite things about flying is the view...meta view |
Seeing beyond the minutia to a grander scale + the big picture | this is where the little stuff fades away and the sense of endless possibilities, expansion and directions come into being 💫 ahhhhh-mazing!! .

I notice that the grips of fear get stronger and stronger as move towards what I deeply desire, where I see my business thriving and how I truly want to live. Oh the juicy magic of it all!! .

What might your fears be revealing to you? Will you embrace your fierce courage to create the life and business you desire?

Looking at the horizon of 2019, reflecting on how to be of greater service in the year ahead. How are you inspired to serve? What impact do you wish to have? And if you’re like me, you’ll need some quiet weeks ahead of self care, reflection and connection before diving into next year’s intentions ✨

Holding your heart in my heart if this is your first Thanksgiving after the death of a loved one. Holding your heart in my heart if this is your first Thanksgiving after a divorce. Holding your heart in my heart if you can’t be with your family this year. Holding your heart in my heart if you are estranged from your family. Holding your heart in my heart if you have a family member serving in the military, or if you yourself are serving. Holding your heart in my heart if you have to work today. Holding your heart in my heart if you are missing a loved one at your table today because of addiction or mental illness or sickness or anger. Holding your heart in my heart if this is your first Thanksgiving in sobriety. Holding your heart in my heart if you struggle with food, and you feel like nobody understands. Holding your heart in my heart if family holidays bring up nothing but memories of suffering for you. Holding your heart in my heart if you are alone, or if you are just feeling alone in the crowd. Holding your heart in my heart today, all day long. Holidays aren’t always easy. But you are loved. Please know that you are loved. Unclench your fist and lay your hand on your heart. It’s all gonna be alright. We love you.

Taking to heart some tips from our health care friends to support lung health during this time of excess smoke exposure now and over the next few weeks to protect our lungs, as well as help detox after the smoke exposure:
1. Keep yourself very hydrated. Drink lots of herbal teas -- especially nettle, milk thistle, dandelion, mint, and ginger

2. Consume broths, soups, and foods with lots of antioxidants naturally found in cruciferous vegetables such as: broccoli, brussels sprouts, kale, and cauliflower

3. Increase your daily vitamin intake -- especially Vitamin C

4. Rinse your sinuses daily with a Neti Pot
5. Load your diet with ginger as it is a natural detoxifier and aids in lung function

6. Keep all windows and doors closed and use HEPA filters where possible
7. Do not exercise or linger outside more than necessary and if you wear a N95 or N100 mask make sure it fits securely and correctly

8. Take off your shoes and change your clothes once home for the day

9. Diffuse essential oils such as: peppermint, eucalyptus, thyme, lavender, tea tree, or lemon in the home and office for lung health 📷 @andihatch
